About BlueLine: Group/Members![]() BlueLine was formed in the Fall of 1999 when several former members of Take Note! got the itch to start singing close harmony in a small, mixed-voice group. We held auditions to fill out the group, and we're still at it after the addition of several wonderful new members. The name BlueLine comes from the Metro Line of the same name and is both an homage to the DC jazz legend Duke Ellington (composer of among other songs, "Take The A Train") and a reference to the bluesy, jazzy material we particularly enjoy singing. The group has been a sextet for most of its existence, and has accomplished much, including:
We sing a variety of jazz, swing, sacred and contemporary music, and focus on close harmonies. Almost all our repertoire is purely a cappella, but a select few have a dash of percussion. We have been working on a CD which we hope to complete soon. BlueLine is a semi-professional group - it's an outlet for our combined musical passions, but stops short of being a full-time career. That said, we're very proud of the high level of musicianship and entertainment we bring to audiences throughout the greater Washington DC area. |
