Take Note! has been serenading Washington area audiences with its unique harmony sound since 1986. The group has performed at The Kennedy Center Grand Foyer Series, Hillwood Museum, Harmony Sweepstakes, corporate parties, weddings, art gallery openings, Zoofari, First Night Silver Spring New Year's Eve celebration, book stores, area nursing homes, charity benefits, and for service organizations.
The History of Take Note!
Take Note! was formed circa 1986 by several Yale alumni who enjoyed having dinner parties and dragging out music from their old singing groups. Gradually, the dinner parties progressed into real rehearsals, relaxed auditions, and a full performance schedule. Eventually, the group's membership encompassed alumni from many different universities, including Harvard, University of Connecticut, Amherst, M.I.T., University of Illinois, and Binghamton University.
Existing for several years as anywhere from 14 - 16 members, Take Note! underwent a transformation in 1999 and currently performs as a mixed quintet or sextet all over the Northern Virginia, D.C., and Maryland area, and rehearses in Arlington, Virginia. We still hold down "day jobs" - a computer nerd, P.H.D., policy strategist, and music teacher (*that* sure comes in handy!). And we still enjoy the camaraderie of singing harmony and creating and eating decadent foods!
Occasionally we have openings (someone always seems to be moving to California). Please e-mail us about current openings if you might be interested in auditioning.
